Yes, sorry, that was poorly written metaphoric comparison. I hear a lot of Gilmore in the Shunk vocalist (who's old enough to be her daughter), prompted by their shared city, no doubt. But also: thank you for being one of the only people I know to remember and care about Condition! My life was changed hearing that band on BNW the first time I tuned in.
I see! Yeah, Condition, Deja Voodoo, and Three O'Clock Train were probably the big three Montreal bands for me when I first moved there in the later 80s, and collectively literally life-changing.
Funny, I found out about Jobi Riccio last night. William Prince won a songwriters award at Newport so I went to see who else has won it and there she was.
I actually know next to nothing about her other than this song. Her debut from 2023 sounds fine, but I'm really excited to hear what's coming based on this one-off single.
