The day the mighty Catherine O’Hara died this week, I happened to be listening to the CBC Radio drive show in her hometown of Toronto. Her death was being treated, rightfully, like that of a prime minister’s. I don’t recall any Canadian cultural loss being marked this way since either of the two Gords passed (Lightfoot in 2023, Downie in 2018).
