This summer I saw more legacy acts than I anticipated—including the two incongruous artists in Rust Never Sleeps—mostly spontaneous decisions. Plus, two underrated Toronto legends, an Okie folkie, and a full report from this year’s Hillside Festival in Guelph—where marimbas, Afrobeat and flamenco led the way.
